Welcome to Joyous Gard, an award-winning theatre company created by Beth Eyre, Joe Eyre, and Frankie Parham.

WE ARE CASTING - SCROLL DOWN FOR INFO

After the success of 3 New Plays at VAULT ‘18, we’re delighted to be returning to VAULT Festival for our 3rd year and our 2nd collaboration with Snatchback. We’re so excited to finally announce 10

10 stories. 5 Performers

ABOUT 10

Written by Lizzie Milton (The Breaks in You and I, Slow Ripening Fruit) and produced by Snatchback (Timothy, VAULT Festival 2018)  and Joyous Gard  (I Have A Mouth And I Will Scream (People’s Choice Award, VAULT ‘18), Crocodile (Highly Commended Award, VAULT ‘17, Tiger) 10 is a riotous celebration of History’s Heroines.

Pick up your average history textbook and you’d be forgiven for thinking that the only people who did anything up to the 20th century were white, able-bodied men.

We’re setting out to redress the balance.

Taking ten important and influential women across history, 10 celebrates their all too often unacknowledged achievements and explores the unique prejudices and obstacles women have and continue to face, particularly at the intersection of other minorities.

Including the stories of Æthelflæd (ruler of Mercia), Mary Prince (writer and abolitionist), Ada Lovelace (Mathematician), Constance Markievicz (politician and revolutionary) and Gwen John (painter).

Directed by Nastazja Somers, 10 is going to shake the underground walls at THE VAULT FESTIVAL 2019.

We are looking for female identifying actors who are experienced in devising and who enjoy working in a collaborative way.

One of the aims behind 10 is to give voice to women who were silenced by history and we are particularly interested in hearing from women of colour, 40+ and non-British performers.
